Gary Diven
- Founder & Managing Partner
Gary Diven is Founder and
Managing Partner of Matrix Solutions which he founded in 1992 when he developed the concept for Matrix
Plus, the flagship software product of Matrix Solutions. His time with Matrix Solutions is preceded by executive level positions in the areas of marketing and research in the broadcasting industry and in retail marketing and management.
During his role as a national retail marketing manager for Sears Roebuck and Company, Mr. Diven worked with a matrix analysis strategy to implement tactical and focused product line planning.
He later adapted the retail matrix methodology, changing the axis definitions to accommodate a strategic sales management approach, to facilitate strategic sales planning for the media industry during his tenure as head of strategic planning and research with Group W Broadcasting/KDKA-TV. Mr. Diven saw the need for sales information that was easily accessible and obviously actionable by media salespeople and sales managers.
During this initial period of product development, he developed a strategic sales management solution to address the needs for precise sales management intelligence and to solve the shortcomings of existing systems. Mr. Diven designed a sales software tool that would accept customer billing data from traffic systems and, in combination with input of qualitative data, would enable media sellers to be proactive in their approach and able to build better sales strategies. The result was an innovative system that equipped salespeople and managers with insightful reports, robust account information, forecasting capabilities, and account management capabilities for a focused sales approach. An early version of the current MatrixPlus product was successfully rolled out to KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, then later to all of the Group W Broadcasting stations and national rep offices.
Mr. Diven left Group W Broadcasting to develop and market MatrixPlus for the media sales industry . Since the product's introduction in 1992, countless enhancements and features have been added, making the product stronger with every new release. Today, more than 800 customers, including ABC Television, Hearst-Argyle Television, Cox Broadcasting and Belo Corporation, use MatrixPlus to retain customers, reduce costs and grow business. Mr. Diven is principal owner and investor in Matrix Solutions.
Mr. Diven holds a BA with double major in Economics and Business Management from Franklin and Marshall College.
